I'm an illustrator, writer and designer in Cape Town, South Africa. I started my business in 2007 when I first opened an Etsy shop. Since then, things have grown a lot, and we now have a brick and mortar store, lots of wholesale partners, and a big team to run it all.
Everything in my shop is designed by me, usually by papercutting, drawing or printing with cut lino blocks. I'm lucky to have a fab team helping with all the projects we work on, leaving me to handle design work with assistance from Melissa.
Here's how things get made and sold at Skinny laMinx: Sarah manages the screenprinting process, which happens in Cape Town, while in the production studio above our shop, Nobuzwe manages our seamstress team, with Nadiya doing the cutting, and Moena, Marcia, Bridget & Malam have the magic hands that sew everything up. All our online sales are managed and packed by Fouwaaz and Nobuzwey, while the shop downstairs is run by Stefan, and Pearl manages the business side of things.
There are lots of us, but there's lots to do!
