Every day, millions of buyers and sellers from around the world come to Etsy for creativity, craftsmanship, and connection. That trust is foundational to our marketplace, and something we work every day to earn and maintain.
Maintaining the trust of our community means continually investing in the policies, tools, and teams that help keep our marketplace safe, protect creative work, and preserve what makes Etsy unique as we advance our mission to Keep Commerce Human.
Today, we're publishing Etsy’s 2025 Transparency Report, which provides a closer look at how we support a safe and vibrant marketplace. The report also highlights the progress we’ve made over the past year and the areas where we’re continuing to invest for the future.
As our marketplace evolves, so do the challenges we face. New technologies, emerging abuse trends, changing regulations, and the increasing sophistication of bad actors require us to continuously adapt. At the same time, we know that transparency is essential. Our community deserves to understand not only what actions we take, but why we take them.
2025 Highlights
Throughout 2025, we continued investing in the policies, tools, and technologies that help keep Etsy safe, trusted, and unique. Some highlights from this year's report include:
- Greater transparency for sellers, including a new Policy Violations page in Shop Manager, expanded policy education resources, and the introduction of listing-level appeals, beginning with Creativity Standards violations.
- Continued improvements to policy enforcement, including expanded use of large language model (LLM)-based technologies that helped improve enforcement accuracy while supporting detection at scale.
- Ongoing efforts to preserve Etsy's unique marketplace through enforcement of our Creativity Standards and investments in identifying items that don't belong on Etsy.
- Stronger protections against spam, scams, counterfeit goods, and unsafe products, supported by enhanced detection systems and collaboration with rights holders, regulators, and law enforcement.
- Continued investment in buyer and seller support, helping resolve issues quickly and fairly — leading to 92% of order issues resolved directly between buyers and sellers without Etsy needing to get involved.
These efforts reflect our commitment to balancing safety, transparency, and creativity and user experience as Etsy continues to evolve.
Looking Ahead
Transparency reporting is an opportunity to share our progress, acknowledge challenges, and hold ourselves accountable.
In 2026, we plan to continue investing in three key areas:
- Strengthening detection and enforcement systems to address emerging abuse trends and improve marketplace integrity.
- Expanding policy education and enforcement transparency so sellers have clearer information when actions are taken.
- Scaling listing-level appeals to provide broader coverage across Etsy’s policy ecosystem.
The work of maintaining a trusted marketplace is never complete. But by continually improving our policies, technology, and transparency, we can help ensure Etsy remains a place where creativity, craftsmanship, and human connection thrive.
