Last year, Etsy began the exciting journey of establishing a regional presence in Mexico. As we’ve grown our employee footprint, we’ve centered our efforts on Mexico City, a vibrant metropolis with a booming tech community that reflects the passion, drive and creativity of the Etsy community of millions of buyers and sellers around the world.

Growing Our Team

Today, I’m proud to share that we’ve grown our team to nearly 130 employees all around Mexico. Our team is integrated into our global workforce, focused on delivering world class products for our users, improving our marketplace and supporting the long term success of our company. And, like all of our employees around the world, our team in Mexico is able to make a direct impact on our end user experience. Mexico employees on our Engineering, Product and Design teams work on a wide breadth of unique rewarding projects, from building personalized experiences on our buyer and seller mobile apps, to supporting fulfillment logistics for our users, to tackling complex technical infrastructure challenges.

At Etsy, we’re always looking to add the best and brightest talent to our team, which is why we entered into a talent partnership with the Mexico-based marketplace Canasta Rosa earlier this year. Canasta Rosa shared our goal to support independent sellers and entrepreneurs, and we were thrilled to have the opportunity to welcome their leadership team, Deborah Dana and Christopher Quesada, to join us in our efforts to Keep Commerce Human at Etsy.

Introducing Etsy’s Mexico Hub

Etsy has a hybrid workforce, and employees are able to choose between “flex” schedules, working fully remote, or working fully in an Etsy office. We recently introduced Etsy’s global “Hub Strategy,” which includes focusing our efforts and resources on a few office “hubs” in centralized regions. As an integral part of this strategy, we have opened a permanent Etsy office in Mexico City, which will serve as our hub as we continue to grow our team in the region.

The Etsy Mexico office is located in the heart of the city, on the iconic Paseo de la Reforma overlooking El Ángel de la Independencia. It is easily accessible via public transport and reachable by bicycle for many of our team members who choose to work out of the office. The functional space is designed for collaboration across our hybrid work modes, and as we decorate we will highlight unique items by Etsy sellers. And, of course, the office features signature programs that are shared by Etsy employees across the globe - like our beloved local food program, Eatsy!

Marking this Milestone with mEtsyCo

This week, we have the opportunity to gather in our new office to celebrate our growth in Mexico, learn together and plan for the future of our team. Josh Silverman, our Chief Executive Officer, and Mike Fisher, our Chief Technology Officer, will join us in our office for meet and greets, educational sessions, and of course, a toast to our immense progress.

We are excited to continue to grow our team in Mexico, and are eager to hire for multiple open roles in Engineering and Product Design. Etsy employees in Mexico have competitive and inclusive benefits, including leading healthcare with wellness perks and 26 weeks of gender neutral parental leave.
